My name is Dave Simmons and I have been interested in wildlife, especially wild birds, since I was a child. I started taking birding more seriously about 8 years ago when I became a member of the local Ogston Bird Club based at Ogston Reservoir in Derbyshire.
My local patch around the village where I live is mainly farmland with some former mining areas now reclaimed for conservation. I also watch a local bridleway / trail that was formerly the route of the local colliery railway line.
I am also a very keen amateur photographer and love taking photographs. Wildlife and Birds mainly but also Landscape & Nature. Getting a good quality photo of a wild bird can be very difficult as birds don't tend to stay still for very long and are usually quite some distance away. It requires much patience, lots of time and luck and by simply getting out there as often as you can to try and get that really "great" photo.
